China one win away from final round

Hong Kong, China, July 5, 2005 - Olympic champions China just need one win in Hong Kong to confirm their place in the 2005 World Grand Prix Final Round.

With the Dominican Republic, who have yet to win a match in the Preliminary Round, their first opponents on Friday, the world number one is expected to have sealed their finals spot before taking on Germany and Italy.

Last year's silver medallists Italy, who currently sit in sixth place, will be looking for at least two wins from three matches - especially a repeat of their 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23)win over Germany in Week One - to give them every chance of reaching the finals themselves.

For Germany (1-5) and the Dominican Republic, they need three wins and hope other results go their way.
