Chinese women’s team receives national award

Shenzhen, China, March 17, 2005 – The Olympic gold medal winning women’s Volleyball team from China has received further accolades after being named the 2004 Laureus Chinese sports team of the year while coach Chen Zhonghe was voted best coach of the year at an awarding ceremony in China on Thursday.

The awards are continued recognition of what was an awesome performance by the Chinese women’s Volleyball team, beating the odds and Russia in a pulsating Olympic final in Athens to claim gold.

The Olympic victory completed a rich vein of form for the Chinese team after they had entered the 2004 season with the 2003 World Grand Prix and World Cup titles in the bag.
