Three stars missing from German lineup
June
22, 2005 - German head coach Hee Wan Lee named his 2005
World Grand Prix squad last Sunday and proceeded to
exclude three big names - captain Angelina Gruen, Atika
Bouagaa and Margarethe Kozuch – replacing them with
Christin Guhr, Corina Ssuschke and Kathleen Weiß.
It is a major change to the side that claimed a final
round berth at the 2006 World Championships in Japan
last weekend in Dresden.
Lee said he allowed Germany’s superstar Gruen a break,
“because she has been on court during the whole year to
date, reaching three tournament finals with her Italian
club Foppapedretti Bergamo. Physically she is OK and
until the Courmayeur tournament earlier this month she
was injured.“

Grand Prix campaign
Meanwhile, Lee confirmed Bouagaa will remain in Germany
due to stress fracture problems with her leg, while
Kozuch is due to return to school.
Germany will play Cuba, Italy and the Dominican Republic
in this weekend’s opening round in the Italian city of
Reggio Calabria.
