Brazilian first team beats Italy to claim Aosta Volley Trophy
Courmayeur,
Italy, June 4, 2005 – In a repeat of last year's World Grand Prix
final, Brazil's top team beat Italy 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) to
claim the Aosta Volley trophy at the foot of Mont
Blanc in Courmayeur, Italy on Saturday to prove that
they're on the right track to defend their 2004 World Grand Prix.

Brazil, ranked second in the world and currently with a
second squad in the USA, finished the
tournament unbeaten with four successive victories,
while Italy finished second with three wins and the
solitary defeat.
In what is one of many tournaments giving World Grand Prix
competitors vital match time ahead of the premier annual
women's tournament, which starts on June 24, Serbia and
Montenegro (who are preparing for a 2006 World
Championship tournament) finished third, followed by
Germany and Russia after Germany beat Russia 3-0 (25-22,
25-21, 25-21) in the other match on Saturday, to claim
their first win of the tournament.
