Three more World Grand Prix teams in action
Courmayeur,
Italy, May 31, 2005 – Three more World Grand Prix teams
are involved in a pre-World Grand Prix tournament with
defending champions Brazil, last year’s runner’s up
Italy and last year’s finalists Germany all competing
for the second Aosta Volley trophy at the foot of Mont
Blanc in Courmayeur, Italy which started on Tuesday.

While China, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the
Netherlands, Japan and Poland are involved in a
tournament in China, five teams in total are competing
in the five-day tournamment in Italy with world number
six and Olympic silver medalists Russia and Serbia and
Montenegro, ranked 28th, the other two countries
competing.
The opening day saw the home side manage to beat Germany
3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15) in what saw
experimental lineups on both sides of the court. Italian
coach Marco Bonitta will be happy with what he saw as
his side managed to work well together and show a lot of
potential despite a lot of the top line up being absent.

are also using this tournament to work on new
combinations as a new era starts in Russian women’s
Volleyball.
Wednesday see 2004 World Grand Prix champions Brazil
make their first appearance as they take on Germany,
while Italy plays Serbia and Montenegro in the second
match. |
