Since
making her debut in the colours of the USA team in
1999 Stacy Sykora has never been far away from prizes
and accolades and has consequently developed into one
of the best liberos in the world.
At 176cm tall the little pocket battleship has proven
to be inspirational on the court with her commitment
to receive and dig as many balls as possible.
Now, one of the most experienced members on the USA
team she has a pedigree which reflects her passion for
play.
Since gaining a silver medal and the Best Receiver
award at the 1999 Norceca Championship Sykora hasn't
be far away from the action.
She was part of the team which finished ninth at the
1999 World Cup, sixth at the 2000 World Grand Prix,
fourth at the Sydney Olympics, fifth at the 2001
Montreux Volley Masters (where she was also awarded
the Best Digger & Receiver titles) and to crown it
all a World Grand Prix gold medal in 2001 where she
also finished the tournament as the Best Digger &
Best Libero.
Since then Sykora has continued to lead USA's
defensive play having been part of the team which
finished fifth at the 2001 W. Grand Champions Cup
(Best Digger), seventh at the 2002 Montreux Volley
Masters, sixth at the 2002 World Grand Prix, second at
last year's World Championship and fourth at this
year's Montreux Volleymasters.
