Raquel Peluci Xavier Camargo da Silva started playing
volleyball at the famous Flamengo club of Rio de
Janeiro, where she built herself a career spanning
seven years from 1990 to 1996 before signing for
Rexona 97/98, MRV/Minas 98/00 and Vasco da Gama
2000/2001. This season she will play with Virna in
MRV-Minas.
With all that experience it didn't take long for da
Silva to make the Brazilian national team and excel
where she has won the Youth South American title (94),
the Junior South American title (94/96) and a silver
medal in the Junior WCH 1995. Her progress in the
junior ranks continued in the senior team where she
has helped Brazil to a World Grand Prix title (98), a
PanAmerican championship in 1999, a South American
crown in 1997 and 2001 and a bronze medal at the 2000
Sydney Olympic Games.
Now in 2003, at the age of 25 and married, da Silva
returns to the Brazilian team following one year's
absence in the hope of completing one of her dreams -
winning a gold medal at the Olympic Games.
