BRA won the match with their better performance over THA in 2002 Grand Prix in Macao
In the beginning of the first set, both BRA and THA could keep their spirit. None of them could get a large margin on the score, until THA committed several mistakes on their attack and reception. BRA took the chance to take the lead to the first technical time out at 8:4. Though trying to use different combination offense, THA still could not go through the strong defense of BRA. BRA took another technical time out at 16:6. The stable performance of BRA enhanced them smoothly finished the 1st set at 25:10.

Despite of the big gap of score in the first set, THA did not give up their determination. The teamwork of THA helped them to tie several points at the beginning of the 2nd set. However, due to THA's relative shorter height, they could not stop BRA's open spikes at all. BRA took again the 1st technical time out at 8:4. But then come the pace of THA again of which T.Pleumjit took 2 consecutive jump serve points to put pressure on BRA at 16:17. BRA then picked up their concentration and made use of their advantage in height and power to take the lead again at 22:16. BRA gained the second set eventually at 25:16.

An open spike of the THA captain P.Anna and a brilliant block point enabled THA to get the first 2 points in the 3rd set. BRA was strong enough that they dominated the set quickly by their effective tactics and opponent's error. Once again taken by BRA the first technical time out at 8:4. BRA could keep their advantage over THA till the end of the set and finally got their first victory in Macao pool by ending the set at 25:12.
