Russia Defeated Germany
Russia getting a big lift from Evgueniya Artamonova pulled off a 25-16, 26-24, 25-14 victory over Germany.

Artamonova scored 18 points and Gamova chipped in 16 points for the Russians, who displayed their impressive attacking and blocking skills to easily win the first set.

The Germans, led by Angelina Gruen and Olessya Kulakova, put up a strong challenge and kept the Russians struggling througout the scond set.

The Russians adjusted well in the third frame, banking anew on Artamonova's brilliant serve and the powerful blocks of Anastasia Belikova and Elizaveta Tishchenko, to post a 14-7 lead en route to victory.

Tishchenko who has 12 points, and Belikova, who had eight points, scored five points each from the blocks.

Gruen led the Germans with 10 points, including two blocks while Kulakova had seven attacks and two blocks. Judith Sylvester and Sylvia Roll contributed seven points apiedce
