Ticas coach thanks Japanese fans

Kenya captain Ndasaba drives her team forward

Costa Rica

Head Coach Braulio Godinez: Today we were very nervous playing against Kenya because they have more experience than us from playing in many national team competitions. The longer the game went on the better we were able to concentrate, and in the fourth set we showed a stronger mentality to win it. It is our first time to play in the World Championships and we have received a lot of support from the Japanese spectators. This has helped the young players in the team.

Captain Verania Willis: We are very satisfied with the result. The main reason why we won is that we could keep our concentration to the end. It was a hard match after losing the first two sets, but we stayed focused to get the victory.

Kenya

Head Coach Sadatoshi Sugawara: Costa Rica are a very tall team and have a lot of power, but at the beginning of the game they had a few problems. In the latter half of the match they started to show their true strength. As for my team, we were not able to communicate within the team and lacked concentration.

Captain Dorcas Ndasaba: We did the best we could, but it was not good enough for victory.

Doris Palang’a: I really wanted to win for coach Sugawara and the team. I hope that, with the talent of our country, we can have victory in the next match.
