Poland defeated Australia 3-0 during the last match in Leipzig of the 2002 Women's World Championship . Both teams fought hard to win, but at the end the Polish attacks were more succesful. That was the reason Poland took the victory. At the beginning of the first set, Australia dominated the match by their powerful attacks and some kill blocks. Poland answered with the same weapons and drew level at 9-9. Both teams fought very hard in order to win the set. Poland was more successful and won with 26-24. Long rallies determined the beginning of the second set. Both Poland and Australia had problems to take a major lead. Poland took the lead at 16-15 and grabbed the set thanks to strong spikes (25-22). The set started with no favour for one team. Poland was leading 16-12 at the second technical time out. This was the gap Poland needed to clinch the victory (25-14). Aleksandra Przybysz was the best scorer of the match with 18 points.
