Thailand used their potential to defeat Australia. It was the first ever World Championship victory of the Thai team. Both teams seemed nervous in the beginning of the first set. Thailand grasped slight advantage at 8-6. Since Australia made too many individual mistakes Thailand was able to keep the lead up to the end of the set. Australia lost 18-25. Playing more self-confidently than in the first set, Australia dominated the play. However, Thailand came back and caught up with the Australians at 16-16. Australia convinced with their strong block and won 25-21. Bringing their quick attacks into play, Thailand led 10-6. Though Australia did not give up, they could not manage to narrow the gap. So Thailand grabbed the set 25-17. Thailand was on steam in the fourth set. Thailand manage to win the set and took the first ever World Championship victory. Anna Paijinda was the top scorer. The Thai player scored 19 points. Patcharee Sangmuang scored 18 points.
