Surprisingly clear victory for Bulgaria over Czech Republic
Bulgaria defeated the Czech Republic surprisingly in three straight sets. After initial problems the Bulgarians improved clearly, although the second set was very tight. The Bulgarians dominated the game throughout the third set and didn't give the Czechs any chance. Bulgaria thus achieved their second victory of the event
The match was well balanced at the beginning of the first set, but at halfway through, the Czechs improved and went on to lead 14-9. Suddenly the Bulgarians seemed to wake up, equalized at 16-16 and then took over the lead. The Czechs couldn't find the right system against the tall Bulgarians and finally lost the set 25-19.
The Bulgarians continued their powerful game in the second set. The Czechs managed the make the match exciting again (12-11) and even drew equal at 16-16 and 21-21. But in the end Bulgaria was the luckier team and used their second match point to win 25-23.
Bulgaria clearly dominated the game in the third set and didn't give the Czechs the slightest chance. The Czechs tried everything, but failed to turn the game around. The Bulgarians won the set by 25-9 and won their second match here in Muenster.
Antonia Zetova, the best scorer os last years European Championship, made 17 points in this match and was leader of top scorers list in this match. Helena Horka was with 10 points the best player on the side of Czech Republic.
Bulgaria will meet Germany on Sunday, while the Czech Republic plays against Italy.
