Russia moves to semifinal after easy victory over Bulgaria
Russia reached the semifinal of the Women's World Championship after taking a 3-0 victory over Bulgaria in Bremen. With this victory, the favorite is one step closer to the title. While the Russian will meet the winner of the match between USA and Cuba in Berlin on Thursday, the Bulgarian team still has one more match to play in Bremen for the places five to eight.

Italy smashes Korea home
In front of a new record crowd of 7,200 in Stuttgart, Italy smashed Korea out of the Women's World Championship. The Italian team reached the semifinals of a major worldwide tournament for the first time in volleyball histor by defeating the Asians in straight sets. Italy showed a very impressive performance. In the first quarterfinals clash in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Korea was never able to use their usual quick attacks and did not find any answer against the powerful Italian block.

USA booked a place in the semifinal of the 2002 World Championship throwing titleholder Cuba out of the event (3-0). The US team is still undefeated and will meet Russia in Friday's semifinal. Cuba now has to play for the places five to eight.

China beat Brazil 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 25-15, 15-9) - duration 2:02

China advances to semifinal after thriller against Brazil
In one of the most exiting matches of the 2002 Volleyball World Championship, China took a 3-2 quarterfinal victory against the 2000 Olympic Games bronze medallist Brazil. The 7,421 spectators in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart enjoyed a spectacular match on highest volleyball level. China will face Italy in Friday's semifinal.
