The first match of Brazil during the Women's World Champion was not a very easy one. The South American Champion defeated Poland in straight sets, but the powerful Polish players didn't allow Brazil to dominate the match.

Greece defeated Thailand in straight sets in the Pool D clash of the Women's World Championship. Thailand periodically showed their full potential and improved from set to set, but it was not enough to defeat Greece. 1.800 cheering spectators at the Arena Leipzig saw an exciting game.

Despite winning one set Brazil did not find the right measure to beat powerful China. 4,500 spectators in the Arena Leipzig enjoyed a very emotional and exciting game between favorite China and Olympic bronze medalist Brazil.
