ITALY NEW WORLD CHAMPION !
Italy is the new Women's World Champion. In the final, the Italians defeated USA 3-2. It was the first ever World Title for a Western European women's team. After losing the first and the fourth set, the Squadra Azzurra took the World Crown by winning the fifth set thriller. It is the first ever major title for Italy.

Russia takes bronze medal
Russia took the bronze medal of the 2002 Women's World Championship. The Russian team defeated China in the match for the third position. The European champion took a 3-1 victory over Asian's best in Berlin on Saturday.

Cuba takes fifth place after win over Korea
Three times World and Olympic Champion Cuba grabbed the fifth place at the 2002 Women's World Championship. The Cuban team, the winner in both 1994 and 1998, won the classification match for the fifth spot against Korea. In a packed Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, Cuba took a 3-2 victory over the Asians.

Brazil grabs seventh spot
Brazil took the seventh spot at the 2002 Women's World Championship after a straight sets victory over Bulgaria. The South American Champion was simply better than the Bulgarians, who can be proud finishing in the Elite Eight of this event.
