Bulgaria won the third match of Pool A against Mexico on the opening day of the World Championship in Muenster. Bulgaria exploited their height-advantage fully and gave the Central Americans no room to play. In the first set, the Bulgarians overpowered the Mexicans with their height and quickly led 11-7. However, Mexico did not give up and equalised at 22-22. Bulgaria then woke up and won the set 25-22. Bulgaria continued to dominate the match at the start of the second set extending their lead consistently (16-9, 19-13) and won the set 25-16. Mexico played better in the third set, but had to let the Bulgarians gaining the lead by 15-11 and 22-25. Mexico could never counter the Bulgarian attacks and finally lost the third set 25-17. On Saturday, Bulgaria will meet the Czech Republic while Mexico plays Italy.
