Fourth victory for USA
The American team confirmed their position as the favorite for a medal during the 2002 Men's World Championship after the US team dismissed China in straight set. It was not a match without difficulties for the US team in the Delmi Stadium in Salta.
Taking their fourth victory in a row in the Championship, the USA players are looking forward to reach the quarterfinals. The Chinese team was not an easy opponent for the ambitious Americans, who were effective in all skills.
The first two sets were characterized by high quality volleyball and the Chinese team almost slipped into the lead in the second set, supported on by the 3,500 spectators. But the USA was too powerful for the Asians and took the victory in three sets.
US William Priddy was the top scorer of the match with 13 points, while Chinese Zheng Liang added 11 points to his tournament total.
