Men's World Championship 2002 - Press Info

Press Conference

Portugal beat China 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-11) - duration 1:33
29-Sep, start time: 11:13, end time: 12:46 - Attendance: 3,200
Pereira Ubirajara, (Captain POR): "It was a surprise for us to lose the first set. In the second set we were more confident and we showed our superiority. The group is even but Argentina has the advantage of being the local team. We always play to win."

Zheng Liang (Captain CHN): "In the first set Portugal lacked concentration and we capitalized on their mistakes. In the second set the Portuguese service was very strong and our lack of experience worked against us, I think that in each game we are going to feel better."

Di Anhe (Coach CHN): "Today the Portuguese team played very well, probably we will be better as we go. Today we didn't do what we know how to. The most important serves of Portugal psychologically affected our players."

Juan Diaz (Coach POR): "The Portuguese team has no experience, the players are very young. We have analyzed China in the World League and it helped us to impose our way of playing. We have an ambitious goal: to be within the top sixteen teams."
