BRAZIL NEW WORLD CHAMPION
Brazil is the new Men's World Volleyball Champion. The South Americans defeated Russia in the final played in Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Brazil grabbed the Gold Medal for the first time in volleyball history, after finishing second exactly twenty years ago. It took Brazil five thrilling sets to secure the World Title.

France takes the bronze medal of the 2002 Men's World Championship. The team coached by Philippe Blain defeated Yugoslavia in the match for the third position played at the Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires. The Olympic and European Champion finished fourth after this unexpected loss.

Italy takes sensational victory over Argentina to finish fifth
Italy, winner of the last three World Championships, defeated Argentina in its last match of the 2002 event played at the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires. The Italians took a 3-2 victory over the home crowd favorite and could only claim the win with the sensational score of 24-22 in the fifth set tiebreaker. Due to the loss, Argentina reached the sixth position, a very good result.
