Men's World Championship 2002 - Press Info

Press Conference

Brazil beat Yugoslavia 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 27-25, 25-23) - duration 1:49
10-Oct, start time: 21:10, end time: 22:59 - Attendance: 4,300
Dula Mester (Player YUG): " It's really difficult to say anything smart in a moment like this. We played good volleyball. We had many chances on the first set but it was a real tough match."

Nalbert Bitencourt (Captain BRA): " I'm really very happy. After twenty years we finally reach the final in a World Championship again. Today's match was very tough but now we have two days to relax and prepare for the final."

Veselin Vukovic (Yugoslavia's captain): " Congratulations to the Brazilian team for reaching the final. But I think that we helped them to get the victory. We had chances to win in every set. We have to make a deep analysis to see what happened."

Bernardo Rezende (Head Coach BRA): I'm happy to defeat such an important team as Yugoslavia, Olympic and European Champion. They showed their power on the court today. They fought until the end, mainly on the fourth set, in which the match seemed to be defined. I'm very proud if my team. It's not easy to play like they did today after yesterday's match. I hope we can defeat whoever we are to meet on Sunday. I was twenty years ago in Luna Park when the former Soviet Union defeated us and I hope this time we can defeat Russia."
