Men's World Championship 2002 - Press Info

Press Conference

Italy beat Portugal 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) - duration 1:11
10-Oct, start time: 18:40, end time: 19:51 - Attendance: 2,050
Ubirajara Pereira (Captain POR): "It was a difficult match. It is always difficult to meet such an experienced team. We are a young team and we need to play to gain experience."

Pasquale Gravina (Captain ITA): "We played a regular match. We made same serious mistakes. We just played for the result. We are going to play next match for our honor and for the respect of our opponents."

Juan Diaz (Head Coach POR): "Today it was a tough match, especially after yesterday's match, in which Italy was defeated by Brazil. We know the Italian team is very professional and we were certain that the would play very concentrated. They won three times the World Championship and it's not the same for them to reach the 8th positon than the 5th. I told my players that they shouldn't think this was going to be an easy game since Italy lost yesterday against Brazil."

Andrea Anastasi (Head Coach ITA): "It was a difficult match to play. As it was yesterday against Brazil. The team worked hard. And we'll try to give the best of us on Sunday."
