Men's World Championship 2002 - Press Info

Press Conference

France beat Czech. Republic 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19) - duration 1:43
06-Oct, start time: 16:40, end time: 18:23 - Attendance: 5,200
Ivo Dubs (Captain CZE): I'm a bit disappointed because we lost today. We won the first set and we had chances in the second set, but we couldn't make it. We lost the third set because of some mistakes and we also missed our chance to qualify for the quarter finals."

Dominique Daquin (Captain FRA): "I'm very happy because we could qualify for the quarterfinals. At first we were afraid of playing against the Czech team because we knew that the players are very good."

Julio Velasco (Head Coach CZE): " Unfortunately, we couldn't keep in the second set the same level of play we had in the first set. We lost the third set due to simple errors. The players felt the pressure. My evaluation of the performance of the team is negative. I think it is fair that France qualified for the quarter finals. My congratulations to the French team."

Philippe Blain (Head Coach FRA): "I'm very happy because we qualified for the quarterfinals. It is hard to recover after playing with these high temperatures like today, but we have some time to rest. If we play against Argentina it will be a difficult game, taking into account the pressure of all the public supporting the Argentinian team at the Luna Park."
