Spain beat Japan 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 29-27, 15-13) - duration 2:11
30-Sep, start time: 11:10, end time: 13:21 - Attendance: 3,400
aFrom the beginning, the first set was a fine game which entertained the audience, not only for the fight for the set point to point but also because of the enthusiasm of the people for every play. Japan reached the first technical time out with points difference, 8-7, but Spain was able to recover themselves and won the second technical time out 16-14, due to Salvador's fine blocking with 4 points, and Enrique De La Fuente's attacks, 5 points, which allowed Hervas' team keep the set.

On the second set, Japan reached both technical time out with points difference, 8-6 and 16-14. The Spanish service, which lost 6 points, let Japan keep scoring. Hosokawa Nobuyoshi was the top scorer in the Japanese team, with 5 points.

Spain's will and blocking were not enough; they scored 3 points. Again, Japan reached both technical time out with points difference, 8-5 and 16-15. They were tougher on the attack, got 14 points and won a third set which both teams played hard.

After an exciting fourth set the Spanish team, under Japan during most of the game, managed to recover their game and add points. Enrique De La Fuente with 5 attack points was one of the best players of the set.
