Kenya and Tunisia compete for first Women's World Championship ticket

Kenya setter Jane Wacu led her team to a fourth consecutive win at the Women's World Championship qualifier in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya, February 20, 2014 – Hosts Kenya and Tunisia will compete for the first African ticket for the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championships following four consecutive victories each on day four of the Pool U  qualification tournament at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday.

The hosts defeated Seychelles 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-11) to bring their win-loss ratio in the tournament to 4-0.

Tunisia maintained their winning ways after they defeated Uganda in straight sets  3-0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-19) in the first match of the day.

The result brought Tunisia’s win-loss record in the six-nation tournament to 4-0 while Uganda dropped to 2-2.

Tunisian players like Barhouumi Marwa, Agreb Ramah Maissa Lengliz had little difficultly in hitting a disjointed Ugandan side especially in the second set where they faced no opposition.

Senegal achieved their second victory of the tournament following a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14) victory against Mozambique in the second match of the day.

Senegal achieved their second victory of the tournament following a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14) victory against Mozambique in the second match of the day.

Picking up  the pace after a lackluster performance in previous matches, the South Africans proved that they are the rising stars on the horizon as they displayed a great game especially in reception and attacks.

The results brought Senegal’s win-loss record in the tournament to 2-2 while Mozambique dropped to 0-4.

Now Kenya and Tunisia will fight for the World Championship ticket, when they meet each other on the fifth and last day of the competition.  The winner will book their ticket to the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Italy 2014.
