Botswana and Mozambique collect third wins in Women's World C'ship qualifiers


Hosts Zambia lost on the third day of the Women's Zone 6 qualifiers for the 2014 World Championship

 Lusaka, Zambia, October 24, 2013 – Botswana continued their winning ways on the third day of the 2014 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship Zone 6 qualification tournament (Pool R) in Lusaka, Zambia, on Thursday with a straight-sets victory (25-19, 25-13, 25-11) over hosts Zambia.

Dark horses Mozambique also secured their third win out of three, beating Swaziland 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-12).

In the match of the day, Namibia fought for more than two hours to overcome Zimbabwe 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13).

Botswana leads the six-nation tournament with a 3-0 win-loss ratio for nine points ahead of Mozambique (3-0, eight points), Zimbabwe (2-1, six points), Zambia (1-2, three points), Namibia (1-2, three points) and Swaziland (0-3, no points).

The top two teams in the tournament will proceed to the finals of the qualifiers to be held in January 2014.
