Paris gets ready to host Men’s World Championship Qualifiers


The French team will host the qualification tournament in January

Paris, France, November 1, 2013 – The French Federation of Volleyball has announced it will hold its qualifying tournament for the FIVB Volleyball World Championships at the Halle Carpentier in Paris from Jan. 3-5, 2014.

With a capacity of 4,800 seats, the tournament will be an opportunity for the public to watch the team after training camp – which will take place in two stages from Dec. 19 to 23 at INSEP in Paris and Dec. 26-31 in The Netherlands.

The three-day tournament will see France, Belgium, Spain and Belarus battling for a ticket to the FIVB Volleyball World Championships 2014 in Poland.

Qualification mode:

Each country will host four teams who will compete for three days (see below). The competing teams are ranked first in Pool A to G. The five pool winners and the best second-place team from the qualifiers will receive a ticket to the World Championship. Host country Poland will fill the final spot. 

Presentation of five groups:

The third qualifying round for the World Championships will be held in five cities from January 3-5 2014.

Group J NIS (SRB )

Place of competition: Sportski Centar Cair NIS

Participating countries: Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia Republic of Macedonia

Group K LUDWIGSBURG (GER )

Place of competition: MHP Arena LUDWIGSBURG

Participating countries: Germany, Turkey, Estonia, Croatia

Group L PARIS (FRA )

Place of competition: Halle Georges Carpentier Paris

Participating countries: France, Spain, Belgium, Belarus

Group M in POPRAD (SVK )

Competition venue: Arena POPRAD

Participating countries: Finland, Slovakia, Greece, Ukraine
