Russia's Ekaterina Gamova was one of the outstanding players at the FIVB Women's World Championship Japan 2010, picking up the MVP award as well as a gold medal.

Moscow, Russia, December 8, 2010 – Russia's Ekaterina Gamova, the FIVB Women's World Championship Japan 2010 MVP, has been named November's Athlete of the Month by RUTV, the Russian TV channel, following her side's triumph in the tournament last month.

Gamova received 59.5 percent of the vote following her sensational display at the event which included a 35-point haul in Russia's 3-2 victory over Brazil in the final in Tokyo on November 14. The starring displays by the 30-year-old from Chelyabinsk proved one of the highlights of the tournament as she helped her team successfully defend the title they had picked up at the previous World Championship in 2006.
