Saori says Japan have room for improvement

Saori with her fans after another superb perfromance for Japan

Tokyo, Japan, October 30, 2010 - Japan vs Peru press conference

Peru player Patricia Soto: “I think we did a good job in third, but we saw lots of things we need to improve. Perhaps on the mental side we need to improve a lot.”

Regarding loss turning point in the second set “We couldn’t keep the momentum, and that was a problem. Hopefully we can improve it.”

Peru coach Kim Cheol Yong: “We struggled to receive overall in the game, at that’s one reason that led to the result in the match.”

“Japan’s team play is very fast. We did not have any chance to play any Asian teams. When Japan played fast we were unable to catch up to their rhythm.”

Japan coach Masayosi Manabe: “Regarding the blackout, maybe in any other country there is also this kind of thing. It’s rare here in Japan. But our players didn’t lose concentration, and they started well. Our serving today was effective.”

Japan's top scorer Saori Kimura: “The result is fine, but our performance is not as it should be. If we continue like this maybe we’ll face a very serious situation in later stages in the tournament.”

Japan player Mai Yamaguchi: “My attacking is ok because Kimura’s reception is very good. We played well-functioning combination volleyball today.”

Japan player Yukiko Ebata: “I didn’t play well yesterday so I was determined today from the very start of the match. I cheered all my colleagues and my motivation was fine.”
