McCutcheon makes two changes from World Grand Prix

Nancy Metcalf (above) comes in for Nicole Fawcett as one of the changes while Lindsey Berg replaces Nellie Spencer
Matsumoto, Japan, October 28, 2010 – The United States have finalised their 14-player roster for the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship ahead of their opening Pool C game against against Thailand in Matsumoto on Friday.

"There were some extremely difficult decisions to make in selecting the final World Championship roster," USA coach Hugh McCutcheon said. "We've now developed some depth across all positions and, as a result, it's been a very competitive training block. It was tough to determine the final 14, but we think we have selected the best team we can to represent our country at these World Championships. We are excited to go to Japan and compete."

McCutcheon has made just two changes to the squad that won the FIVB World Grand Prix in August this year, with Lindsey Berg replacing Nellie Spencer and Nancy Metcalf coming in for Nicole Fawcett.

USA sit in Pool C and after meeting Thailand, they will face subsequent fixtures against Croatia, Germany, Kazakhstan and Cuba. They beat local side Toray in a friendly match on Tuesday, playing the full five sets for practice. The final score was 25-21, 25-17, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21.

The full squad is:
Outside hitters
Cynthia Barboza, Megan Hodge, Jordan Larson, Logan Tom
Middle blockers
Foluke Akinradewo, Heather Bown, Jennifer Tamas
Destinee Hooker, Nancy Metcalf, Ogonna Nnamani
Lindsey Berg, Alisha Glass
Nicole Davis, Stacy Sykora
