Many Volleyball fans on Twitter believe USA's Foluke Akinradewo will shine at the FIVB Women's World Championship as she did at the 2010 World Grand Prix where she was MVP |
Lausanne, Switzerland, October 27, 2010 – With the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship starting in just two days' time, Volleyball fans around the world have been telling the FIVB who they think will shine at this year's tournament.
Through the FIVB's Twitter page, supporters from across the globe have been making their predictions on who they think will emerge victorious. Despite never having won a World Championship before, many expect Olympic champions and world No.1 Brazil to triumph, although USA are close behind following their success at the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix. Fans have also suggested that hosts Japan could cause an upset in front of their home fans, with 2009 World Grand Champions Cup winners Italy also considered a threat.
Many supporters have also given their suggestions about the potential MVP at the tournament, with a number of players highlighted. Brazil veteran Sheilla Castro is unsurprisingly one of the favourites, with over 40 per cent of people saying she will pick up the award. The USA pair of Logan Tom and young sensation and World Grand Prix MVP Foluke Akinradewo also earned mentions along with Japan's Saori Kimura.
The 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship takes place in Japan from October 29-November 14.
