It is the first time Algeria have qualified for the FIVB Women's World Championship

Tokyo, Japan, October 20, 2010 – Algeria have arrived in Japan to continue their preparations for the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship, which starts on October 29.

The north African side will play two friendly matches ahead of the start of the tournament in an effort to acclimatise before their opening-day match against Pool A rivals Peru.

This is Algeria's first participation in the FIVB Women's World Championship after they qualified for the first time alongside Kenya from the African preliminary competition. They will also face Costa Rica, hosts Japan, Serbia and Poland in Pool A.
