Buenos Aires, Argentina, September 3, 2010 – Canada’s preparation for the FIVB 2010 Women’s World Championship, which runs from October 29-November 14 in Japan, took a blow when it lost a third consecutive match against Argentina 25-17, 26-24, 25-21 on Friday as the home side clinched the five match series 3-1.

The Canadians, ranked 24th the world, took the first match of the series on Monday in five sets but the Argentineans came back strong with wins on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Argentina, ranked 19th, did not qualify for the worlds.
"We started again with a different line-up and the goal of the first week of the tour is to give everyone a chance to play,” Canada’s coach Arnd Ludwig said. “We did some things really well, but individually unforced errors ruined our end result."
Brittney Page led Canada with eight kills, Tammy Mahon added six while Nadine Alphonse and Tiffany Dodds added four and three kills respectively.
“We are trying to focus on the process,” Canadian team captain Mahon said. ‘’We believe that our performance will improve but right now it’s been hard to find a rhythm."
The five-match series concludes on Saturday before Canada’s FIVb 2010 Women’s World Championship preparation continues with a series of matches against fellow World Championship participants Peru from September 6-11.
