Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, September 1, 2010 – Brazil player Paula Pequeno has underlined her intent to take part in the 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Japan from October 29-November 14 after picking up an injury during last month’s FIVB World Grand Prix.
Paula was one of two players, along with Mari, who suffered an injury setback early on in the final round in Ningbo, China and had to be content with watching her side pick up silver in the tournament from the sidelines.
She knows that the race is now on if she wants to be a part of Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimares plans for the 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Japan from October 29-November 14.
“We're very close to the World Championship,” she said. “I will devote myself to get back soon. I have a good record of recovery. I hope I can return ahead of schedule and get into a position to play at the championships."
Brazil will be aiming to go one better than their last outing in the World Championships at the 2006 edition where they were defeated by Russia in the final. They will compete against this year’s World Grand Prix bronze medalists Italy in Pool B alongside the Netherlands, Kenya, Puerto Rico and the Czech Republic.
