Tokyo, Japan, June 10, 2010 – The National Operations Committee for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship, due to be held in Japan from October 29 – November 14, gathered for the first time on Wednesday to discuss various issues related to the tournament.
Subjects brought up included the composition of the National Organizing Committee, National and Local Operations Committees, the budget, and the match starting time.

NOC Executive Director Mr. Taizaburo Nakano, Deputy Executive Directors Mr. Takashi Shimoyama and Mr. Shigeru Ishikawa as well as Mr. Katsumi Wakao, Competition Director of the tournament and also FIVB SEC member, attended the meeting which was held at TBS.
“Thank you very much for gathering today,” Mr. Nakano said as he opened the meeting. “Even though we are facing a difficult financial situation, we want to keep the standard of this competition high, at the same time, seeking a way to keep down costs. I want this competition to play an important role to brighten and enliven the world. We will do our best to lead this competition to a huge success, so please kindly give us your warm support.”
At the meeting, it is confirmed that the preparations are going smoothly in each area, and JVA and TBS together will promote the event to the fullest extent to make every competition venue a full house in autumn!
