Tokyo, Japan, April 12, 2010 - JVA President Mr. Masao Tachiki and Sports Division President of TBS Television Mr. Shigeru Ishikawa made a courtesy visit to Mr. Hiroshi Mizohata, Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) on behalf of the Organizing Committee for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship Japan 2010 on April 1 in an effort to discuss promotion of the event together.
The Women’s World Championship, which starts on October 29 across Japan, is seen as a good opportunity for Japan to further its tourism trade, and the meeting helped further improve plans for the country ahead of the tournament later this year.
A total of 24 teams from across the world will travel to Japan to compete in the FIVB Women’s World Championship with matches taking place in all corners of the country. Russia will be hoping to defend the championship they won in 2006, however are likely to face strong competition from a number of teams, most notably runners-up at the last edition Brazil as well as FIVB World Grand Champions Cup winners Italy.
