Matlak pleased with Poland revival

Peru's Karla Ortiz apologised to their fans for the performance agaainst Poland

Poland coach Jerzy Matlak:
"Peru are definitely a better team than they showed today. After seeing how they played against Japan and Serbia I was really afraid of this match. But we played really well in all aspects, all parts of the game. So practically we didn't allow Peru to show their strengths and that's why we won.
"Obviously Japan and Serbia (both of whom beat Poland) are very strong teams. Our game against Japan was very long, and we only had 15 hours to recover. Then of course Serbia were very strong opponents as well. We tried to convince ourselves that (two defeats) was not the end of the world."

Poland player Milena Sadurek:
"Our team are very happy that we won this game. I think that our play was very, very good, in every department – serving, blocking, our attack and defence were very good. This was a very important game for us. I'm really happy that we won."

Peru coach Kim Cheol Yong:
"Today we couldn't really get our own rhythm going and that's the reason why we lost.
"I started to work as a head coach for Peru last year, and maybe I'm not working enough at this point. Our playing skill has improved but there is still some room for improvement. I'd like to teach them more skills through hard practice."

Peru player Karla Ortiz:
"First congratulations to the Poland team. That's the reason why we lost. The team work wasn't functioning well today. Our receiving was bad, especially on the left. We will try to fix this and play as a team moving forward.
"Somehow we couldn't play the way we normally play, and that's really the only answer I can give. Personally, we'd like to say sorry to our fans in Peru."
