Goal was to win says Russian coach

"We understand Canada is young and inexperienced. We wanted to use as little energy as possible today. Our goal was to win and we did," said Russia coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin

Russia coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin:
"We understand Canada is young and inexperienced. We wanted to use as little energy as possible today. Our goal was to win and we did."

Russia captain Maria Borodokova:
"We performed well today, better than in previous games. We hope to continue to improve."

Russia player Liubov Shashkova:
"The last time I played against Canada was 1996, so I was looking forward to this match. They have an intriguing set of players."

Canada coach Arnd Ludwig:
"We started the match with too much respect for them and made too many errors. But we improved as the match went on. That is important."

Canada captain Tammy Louise Mahon:
"There was no pressure on us. We were playing the defending champions. We just tried to work on our game."

Canada player Marisa Field:
"We started slowly today. We gained momentum towards the end. I'm proud of our team."
