Thais satisfied as game plan pays off

Thailand's players singing the national anthem during the pre-game ceremony

Thailand coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai:
"I want to congratulate my team; they did a good job today. They have good unity and are working together well and also have good communication. The players followed our game plan today. It's always good when the coaches and players work together like this. We concentrated very hard on every point, and it wasn't easy to get points because Croatia are a very good team. They beat Cuba, so we were nervous. They are tall and good at blocking, so it's not easy to get points, but we tried to play in our usual style and take things point by point."

Thailand captain Wilavan Apinyapong:
"Today, we are very happy to have won. We tried to play at our best and follow the game plan of the staff and coaches, and play better than yesterday."

Thailand player Nootsara Tomkom:
"Today, we played better than yesterday and we were very successful in many techniques. And we cut down on our mistakes. We all served well today and we controlled the game easier than yesterday. We're very happy and want to do better.
"This is the World Championship and it's very hard. Every team has been preparing for this tournament for a long time and all the teams are very strong, so I find it hard. If we don't prepare very well, we can't get good results, so we've been working hard from the beginning of the year."

Croatia coach Miroslav Aksentijevic:
"I want to congratulate Thailand. We definitely didn't play our volleyball; the main problem was the very good performance of our opponents. We had a chance to play in some parts, but when we served well the main problem was our transition after reception. We will try to recover tomorrow and focus on our next two matches against Germany and Kazakhstan. It's difficult for us now, but we will do our best to stay here for the next round."

Croatia captain Maja Poljak:
"I just want to congratulate Thailand. It's the first time we've played against an Asian team with their characteristics of quick play and a lot of combinations. Unfortunately, we are tall and slow and we had a lot of problems, and they had better tactics. They deserved to win and I have to congratulate them."
