USA captain William Priddy: "It’s been a difficult year and a half. We’ve had a lot of adversity, family issues, problems with the team and it’s been difficult to find our team-rhythm.  And I’m not sure we found that tonight either. Tonight's match seemed like a street fight. Cameroon played a good match."

On status of advancement to the second round: "I'm happy we won, but we are not excited about the position we are in having to wait on the results of someone else's match."

USA coach Alan Knipe: "My congratulations to the Cameroon team. Their players and coaching staff played a great match. They earned the place they are in. I agree with (William) Priddy’s assessment in that it became a street battle between their players 7 and 14 (Jean Patrice Ndaki Mboulet and Nathan Wounebmaina) and our players 8 and 13 (Priddy and Clayton Stanley). Both played very well. Both teams played hard and wanted to win. We are continuing to try to find our team rhythm."

In regards to resting Sean Rooney for the match: "The strength of our team is our our outside hitters. It is by far our deepest position and I have confidence in all of them."

Cameroon captain Malhoum Adam Abbas El Hadj: "Tonight we faced a battle. This was a high-level encounter tonight. I’m proud of the game we played. We wish the U.S. the best and hope they advance.  We thank the crowd for their enthusiastic support."

Cameroon coach Peter Nonnenboroich: "If anyone would have said we would have played the USA in the second round and play them in a five-set match, no one would have believed them. We fought as hard as we could but have a lack of experience playing at this level and playing together as a team. We were struggling with the services we received but we did our best."

On his country's funding of the program: "Our main issue is an economic problem. We receive no funding from sponsors and it’s just the government that supports us. We don’t even have a gym in which to play, we have to play outside on concrete and asphalt under the sun."
