The first two sets they were better than us - Knipe |

The press conference after the marathon match between USA and Mexico |
USA coach Alan Knipe: "I want to underline the great game of Mexico. In the first two sets they played better than us. In the third set the team has increased the level of play and with the help of Stanley we were able to gain the victory. We never underestimated the Mexico. We have great respect to them. The race was hampered by the lack of the proper preparation. We played a few matches from July to now and therefore we struggled physically."
USA player Riley Salmon: "I'm happy for the victory. Mexico has played a very good game, especially in defense. They did everything to win. After losing the first two sets, we were able to react. It was essential the team work to achieve this victory. We fought until the end."
Mexico coach Jorge Lopez Azair: "I want to congratulate the United States team. It was an honor for us to play against a national team of this high value. Hopefully we can win. The team in the first two sets gave a good game, after we failed to react psychologically and maintain the advantage. Meyer initially affected the output of the team's performance. We also managed to maintain good standards especially in reception. Now we have to think about the next game. Our goal for the next step is to qualify to the second round."
Mexico captain Gerardo Contreras : "We never played so well with the United States. We are pleased for the game showed on the field. I am happy for the game, although we have not gained the victory. We started well, but we didn’t believe in ourselves until the end. After the first two sets, we made too many mistakes. We have shown that our way to play can surprise. We must not think most of the game today, but look to the future. There will be other opportunities to demonstrate our value."
