Proud of my players - Kolakovic

Serbia rejoice after they claimed their second bronze medal of the year, having finished third in the 2010 World League

Serbia captain Nikola Grbic: "I have played many matches in my career and this was a very difficult one after being one step away of a dream. It was very difficult to raise the spirit of my teammates and play with determination. At the moment the bronze medal is meaningless but in the future it is going to be very important. Regarding to the match we took advantage of many errors of Italy in the first set but they raised their level in the third set with very effective serves and even closed it with an ace. I think that both tactically and technically our team played better than Italy."

Italy captain Valerio Vermiglio: "It is very difficult to end a dream this way but we couldn’t play better. The match against Serbia was characterized by many ups and downs. Congratulations to Serbia. I think we did better than sufficient in this tournament and experienced a jump in quality."

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: "I have to say that I am very happy about winning the bronze medal. Yesterday we had a very hard night but from the first moment today we were thinking about what was ahead. Winning the bronze medal is important. Before the match we were still thinking about the last serves against Cuba but then we were very focused despite some down moments. I am really proud of my players because they remained focused despite the defeat to Cuba."

Italy coach Andrea Anastasi: "First of all congratulations to the Serbia team for winning the match. I have two different kinds of feeling, first I am happy because we are playing in Rome at this stage of the Championship and second I am sorry because we didn’t play as we hoped. But this is the way things go in sports. We didn’t reach the podium but fourth place is good and we have young players and working with them we can have a good future.”
