We knew Marra and Savani were the weak points - Giba

Giba said that Brazil's two middle blockers - Rodrigo and Lucas - are intelligent and knew exactly who to pinpoint

Brazil captain Giba: "Today we played an excellent match, and I loved the support from the fans. We played tactically better than the Italian team but now we have to slow down and regain our concentration  because Cuba is a strong group which is playing at an extremely high technical level.  We knew Marra and Savani were the two weak points and Cernic was the best receiver. Our two middle blockers are intelligent and knew exactly who to pinpoint. We made some mistakes too, but we changed our scheme which helped us win the match."

Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende: "Above all I have to say that the audience was fantastic. I almost felt like I was in Brazil. We played very well even though we made some mistakes, but Italy was in great difficulty and so we took advantage of the situation. Since both teams were basically at the same level, whoever made less errors would have won the match. Bruno was injured during the match,  and some other players have some physical problems . Right now I must concentrate at recuperating  these key players since the final with Cuba will be a true battle."

Italy‚Äôs top scorer Alessandro Fei: "We were nervous at the beginning of the match and made several mistakes.  Unfortunately, all these errors compromised the whole match, and now we must think about the next challenge tomorrow which is also important."

Italy coach Andrea Anastasi: "Congratulations to Brazil. They played well, and in Volleyball if you play well you win. We made many mistakes in attack, which conditioned the outcome of the match."

Mixed zone quotes
Michal Lasko (Italy): "Nothing went right this evening. We could already taste the final, but on this occasion Brazil played better than us."

Emanuele Birarelli (Italy): "It is a pity. They were superior, but we were unable to express our true level of play. Our greatest  fault was not being able to keep a close gap in the point situation.  Another regret is not having taking advantage of this incredible public which sustained us until the end of the match."

Leandro Vissotto (Brazil): "I have not been playing well in this World Championship since I encountered a few physical problems in the past couple of weeks. Tonight, however, I came through for my team and gave an important contribution. Now we need to reaffirm ourselves in the final."

Endres Murilo (Brazil): "We entered the court confident and self-assured. Italy is a great team , with an excellent tradition in Volleyball but in this moment we are much stronger. Tonight we rose to the occasion with pride, and even if our performance was not perfect, we managed to regain our rhythm and beat Italy."
