Brazil showed why they are one of the best teams in the world

The blocking of Brazil improved in the later part of the five-setter against Czech Republic

Ondrej Hudecek, captain of Czech Republic: “We are disappointed about losing the match. We did our best but it was not enough. From the fourth set on, Brazil started to play better and improved their defense. We have to forget about this match and start thinking about tomorrow’s match at 5 against Germany.”

Giba Godoy, captain of Brazil: “The Czech Republic has played at an impressive level during the whole match. It has been a very difficult match for us but our experience was a factor after the fourth set. Our serves and blocking really improved and now we have time to rest a little and see what happens with Germany, our next opponent on Wednesday.”

Jan Sbodova, coach of Czech Republic: “I am sad like my players. It was a very close match and we played at a very high level for the first three sets. Then Brazil showed why they are one of the best teams in the world. It was very difficult to overcome the difference of three, four points in the fourth set with the spikes of Murillo and Dante. We still played well but they were better than us.”

Bernardo Rezende, coach of Brazil: “The Czech Republic played with a lot of spirit and with good technique and tactics. They changed when they needed to change. We started the match Ok but then we were a little bit tense. We elevated our game halfway the fourth set and played our best volleyball of the tournament in the fifth. Murillo was very good in those sets and I hope he can rest his calves a little for our next match.”
