We wanted it, says Nikolov

Bulgaria's Nikolay Penchev spikes against Brazil's Rodrigao (14) and Theo (9)

Brazil captain Giba: "For us the real tournament will start next Monday. We decided to let our setter take a rest because he has to do his best next week. Even the other team decided to let their setter and their libero rest. We have to forget about this match and think ahead to Monday."

Bulgaria captain Vladimir Nikolov: "We are happy because we won against Brazil. Brazil, an unbeatable team that's afraid to play against a small island like Cuba. We wanted to win all the games."

Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende: "I didn't ask my players to play to lose tonight. We had some players with physical problems and we must be ready for Monday's match. For sure playing against Germany and Czech Republic won't be easier than playing against Cuba."

Bulgaria coach Silvano Prandi: "Our setter had a physical problem with his leg and that's why he didn't play, and I wanted to give a chance to the other libero."
