Czech Republic satisfied with second-round victory - Stokr

Czech Republic celebrates their victory over USA with Volly, the mascot of the 2010 FIVB Men's World Championship

Czech captain Jan Stokr: "We played pretty well since the beginning of this World Championship and we are very satisfied of our performance. We weren’t nervous before the match and we didn’t suffer the pressure, so this might have been our secret. We didn’t make too many faults maintaining the level always high."

USA captain William Priddy: "Tonight the Czech team played very well and we weren’t able to contrast them in both serving and receiving. The blocks and attacks weren’t effective enough and I know we can play a better level of volleyball. In the second set we cruised 19-16 but the Czech Republic took the set away, so I think we must improve some technical points. We expected the Czech Republic to be very strong in both serving and receiving and tonight they confirmed our expectations."

Czech coach Jan Svodoba: "We are satisfied of the way we played in both defence and attack. We served very well, too, so I feel very proud."

USA coach Alan Knipe: "The Czech Republic played very well both in receiving and serving and these are the elements that make the difference in a match. It was difficult to contrast the middle blockers and the spikers, but we suffered above all in receiving. Tonight we didn’t play well enough to defeat the Czech Republic and they deserved this success because they are a very strong team."
