If Cuba had played as well as they did against Brazil, the match would have been more difficult - Grbic

Cuba coach Orlando Samuel reflects on a disappointing defeat

Milan, Italy, 30 September, 2010 – Cuba vs Serbia press conference

Cuba captain Robertlandy Simón: This match was very interesting, our compliments to Serbia, they had a deciding play. Today we had a lot of trouble.

Cuba coach Orlando Samuel: “Our compliments to Serbia. Today we played very different compared to when we faced Brazil. Serves and attacks are important for a good game and we didn’t realize these very well”.

Discussing Leal’s injury: At the moment  the problem is the ankle, we will check his physical form for the next match. I hope he can play.

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: Our goal was the victory and today we won. So, we had difficulty overcoming Cuba but we played with intelligence and we closed up the match.

Serbia captain Nicola Grbic: Cuba is a very good team. At the beginning the match was hard and we lost many points. But in the other sets we played with strategy and we managed the score. If Cuba had played as well as they did against Brazil, today the match would have been more difficult.

Discussing Miljkovic: Miljkovic is a very good player and now, after two difficult matches against Canada and Poland, he is in form. Despite the fact he made many errors in the first set, the coach did well to leave him in the field because he is known to overcome tough situations sooner or later.
