"We had a real dilemma tonight before the start of the match" - Nikola Grbic

Coaches and captains at the press conference after the game
Trieste, Italy, September 27, 2010 – Serbia vs. Poland press conference.

Serbia captain Nikola Grbic: “It is not easy to speak about Volleyball tonight so I’d prefer to speak about the formula of this World Championship. We are in the position that if you lose twice, you end up in third place and from this Pool you can have a much more comfortable draw for the next rounds. Right before this game we were facing a dilemma but finally we decided to play and go for a victory. Poland deserved to win tonight as they simply played better than us but it is sad that these teams had to play in such conditions which are not fair. I hope we’ll meet again in the Championship final”.

Serbia coach Igor Kolakovic: “I will speak more about Volleyball than about the system governing the Championship. We lacked consistency and we made too many mistakes tonight, so Poland deserved the victory”.

Poland captain Pawel Zagumny: “I agree with Nikola, it was not an easy match tonight, especially to find the right motivation; that was not that evident. We went for the victory and now we’ll probably have the toughest road to the finals but still we played with all our hearts and we have to be proud of this choice”.

Poland coach Daniel Castellani: “I am happy with my team, day by day they have been improving and tonight they played even better than in the previous days. Now we have to play against Bulgaria and Brazil or Cuba, I do not mind. We will go our own way”.
