Trieste, Italy, September 27, 2010 - Germany v Canada press conference.
Germany captain Björn Andrae: “It was a very good game for us, even though we felt the pressure since the loser was going to be out of contention for the next round. We always stayed very positive and I am proud of the attitude my guys showed on court this afternoon. We are certainly happy especially since we are almost sure to have booked our qualification for the second phase.”
Germany coach Raul Lozano: “It was not easy to claim this victory because Canada is a very good team, you can feel that there is Glenn (Hoag) behind, every team he shapes is always extremely competitive and it is never easy to leave the court with the victory in your pocket. I am not happy simply for the win but also for our almost sure qualification to the next round. We always go for the victory but in my opinion this formula leaves the door open for some tricks so that the teams may decide to win or lose depending on the rank they are eyeing at the end of the prelims.”
Canada captain Louis-Pierre Mainville: “We are of course very disappointed but there was a lot of pressure going into this game. We are a young team so we have a bright future together and anyway we can learn a lot from this experience here at the World Championship.”
Canada coach Glenn Hoag: “Germany deserved to win, we lacked quality of execution and now a miracle will be needed to take us to the next round. Still I think it was a good experience for my guys and we can work and build on that for the future.”
