Russia's serve was the difference says Cardona

Russian Yury Biryukov goes high in the aire to attack against Puerto Rico

Modena, Italy, September 27, 2010 - Puerto Rico v Russia press conference.

Puerto Rico captain Hector Soto: “I think they (Russians) were some kind over confident because of their dominance of the past against us. We went out with good mentality and gave them a hard time. The serves of Russia were the difference but we achieved our goal of playing better than the day before. We go to Catania ready to continue playing and trusting in our ability.”

Russia captain Sergey Maskarov: “We performed a good match and finished in the first place of our pool. I hope we can keep going on with the same kind of game. Today our coach let us to play freely and many players had the chance to get into the action.”

Puerto Rico coach Carlos Cardona: “There is not much to say about this match. Basically they dominated us from the zone two and that was the key of the game.”

Russia coach Daniele Bagnoli: “We came with the idea of giving to everyone the chance to play. We have worked very hard and I gave some rest to four players that play most of the time. The match could have gone either way as I gave the chance to many players who usually don’t perform regularly. The serves of Poltasvskiy were the difference at the end.”
